Ski & Board Tuning

Do you want to get the best performance out of your skis or snowboard? Are you looking for a pre-season tune, pre-vacation tune or end-of-season tune? You can't beat the convenience of Blizzard's tuning service!

What's "Tuning?"
Tuning generally involves sharpening the edges and waxing the base of a ski or snowboard. Special machines are used to precisely grind the base (until it's flat) and the edges (until they're at the proper angle). It's also important to have a "clean" edge free from nicks and burrs. Hot wax is then applied to the ski's or snowboard's base. The more wax the base absorbs, the better the ski or snowboard will glide.

Register: Submit your tuning reservation online from your weekly trip evite. At the end of the day, bring your skis or board to the Blizzard truck in the parking lot near the buses. We'll have your reservation form ready and bring your gear to Hoigaard's for an expert stone grind and hot wax. Pick up your freshly tuned gear at Cone #1 when you get off the bus on your next trip.

Cost: $45.00 (see pricing for details)

3. When the buses load at the end of the day, take your gear to the Blizzard truck instead of your bus.
4. Take your poles (skiers) and your bag home with you on the bus.
5. Blizzard will take your equipment to Hoigaard's, have it tuned, and bring it to the next trip.
6. Come to the next Blizzard trip as usual.
7. When you arrive at the area, pick up your gear at Cone #1 (skiers) or Cone #13 (boarders).

Q: How often should I tune my snowboard/skis?
A: Blizzard recommends you tune your skis or snowboard in early December, mid-January, and at the end of the season. If you're headed to the mountains for Winter Break or Spring Break, tune your gear before you leave town. You spent good money on high-performing equipment; you may as well spend a few extra dollars to keep it that way!

Q: Does a Blizzard tune cost extra?
A: We charge the same price you would get if you brought your gear directly to Hoigaard's, plus a small administrative fee. Because Hoigaard's is Blizzard's affiliated shop, we can offer this service to our members and save you the hassle of making two trips!

Q: What if I miss a trip?
A: If you do not attend the drop-off trip or the pick-up trip (or if you just forget to drop off your equipment) we will simply try again the next week.

Q: Can I get services other than a stone grind and hot wax?
A: We do not offer other services at this time. If you need special services such as a binding adjustment or extensive base or edge repairs, please bring your equipment directly to the service counter at Hoigaard's. Their full-service repair shop staff will be happy to help!

Q: When am I charged?
A: You will be charged when your equipment is brought to Hoigaard's.

Q: What if I want to pick up my gear before the next trip?
A: We are only able to offer this service because we have a standard procedure in place to manage your equipment. While we understand that this situation can happen occasionally, it is strongly discouraged. Please contact the office if special circumstances require a mid-week pickup.

Q: How do I get my gear after the last trip?
A: If you drop off your equipment on the last tripof the season, it will be avilable for you to pick it up at Hoigaard's approximately one week later. Blizzard will not deliver your equipment to you.
